A Report On Housing Prices In Chicago’s Near Western Suburbs
The Chicago Tribune has recently provided a snapshot of sales prices which are contrary to what the national media would have you believe
On February 3, 2008, the Chicago Tribune had reported in their Price Pulse section a sampling of the actual home sales prices for the homes in west Cook County and DuPage County. Their study was retroactive-looking at the July through September period in 2006 comparing it to that of the same period in 2007.
In Oak Brook, number of units sold increased 26%. The median sale prices increased 17%
In Hinsdale, the number of units sold decreased 30% while the median sales price increased 36%.
Clarendon Hills was reported to have 16% fewer transactions whereas the purchase price increased 12%.
Western Springs had 3% fewer contracts accepted and a 13% increase in median sales price.
In La Grange, the sales volume declined 20%, but the median contract price increased 16%.
