A second generation moving company with a fair pricing model

For years, I have been referring clients to C. March Movers. Like most services I recommend, it’s a small, closely held company where you talk to the owner (Chuck March, Jr.). If you have a concern or problem, you don’t get an 800 number or an impenetrable voice mail, you get Chuck.

Unlike many of the large moving companies, C. March Movers has a pricing model that is straightforward. Typically, the large movers have a sales guy come out and estimate the weight of your household goods. Then, you commit to them. Next, on moving day, your goods are placed on a truck and actually weighed. My experience has been that the household goods always weight significantly higher than the estimate. This bothers me.

By contrast, C. March Movers charges two separate fees:

1. By the man hour. You choose the number of movers and pay by the hour.

2. Mileage. The distance driven is calculated on a per mile basis and added to the man hour fee.

No smoke and mirrors with this system. And on a day as stressful as moving day, you don’t need any surprises and/or headaches.
