Tips On Relocating Your Family To Chicago From Out-Of-Area
Chicago is a major sports town. Pick a team and hold on tight.
When moving to the Chicago metropolitan area(particularly with children), the primary goal is to assimilate into the local culture as quickly as possible. One of the easiest and best ways to do this is to get your family excited about one of the many professional sports teams which are Chicago-based. You can guarantee yourselves year-round entertainment and distraction when choosing this method of social integration. Here is a sampling of our offerings in local sports:
- White Sox-This beautiful stadium is located just 25 minutes from the greater Hinsdale area. Great place to bring kids-especially the "Fundamentals" section in left field. The fact that many Sox players live in Hinsdale, Burr Ridge and Oak Brook adds to the coolness of this choice.
- Wolves-Not as popular or expensive as a Blackhawks game, but just as much fun. Located near O’Hare International Airport, so there’s no city driving.
- Blackhawks-The big Kahuna of hockey in Chicago. Like the Sox, many players live in the Hinsdale area. Located on the west side of the city. Not the greatest neighborhood on the planet, so be careful.
- Da Bears-Very little in life is as colorful as experiencing a Chicago Bears game tailgate party. I’ll leave it at that. If you’re from a warm weather area, just make sure that you go to a game before November.
- Kane County Cougars (minor league baseball)-An absolute steal for the entertainment dollar. As lively as a three ring circus. There’s even a hot tub in center field.
- Fire (soccer)-Brand new stadium designed specifically for soccer in the southwestern suburbs
- Bulls-A Bulls game preceded by dinner in the city (some great Italian places not so far from the stadium) definitely takes the edge off of a Chicago winter.
- Cubs-Wrigley Field-The best beer garden in Chicago.
These are just a few of the many important life choices you’ll have to make as you transition your life here in Chicago. The good news is that when it comes to choosing where to live, there is really only one choice-the near western suburbs. That’s presuming that your like excellent schools, low crime, mature trees, great shopping and an easy commute into downtown Chicago.
