Popular Mini Trends In Chicago's Western Suburbs

Without fail, the timeless and classic home characteristics prevail. No one wants a home that’s time-stamped "built in ‘06". In the near western suburban market of Chicago including Hinsdale, Western Springs, Clarendon Hills, etc., I’ve found the follwoing trends to be popular. Certainly. this is not an all-inclusive list…

  • Two laundry rooms. Typically, one is a larger, primary laundry room and the other is a secondary "convenience" laundry room. The second could be located in or near the master suite.
  • The old world look. Slightly distressed, but not too much. Stained and glazed cabinets. Oil-ribbed bronze or pewter hardware
  • Refrigerator drawers. The more the merrier. What better father’s day present could there be than a beer drawer?
  • Wine cellars. Walk-in style with tasting areas. Elaborate natural wood racking systems. Even non-drinkers love the look of these rooms.
  • Chic garages. Industrial grade epoxy-coated floors. Sophisticated shelving and organization systems. Modular work shops. Even wall-mounted bumpers to protect the car doors from dents in the even that the kids swing the car door into the wall.
  • Basement bars. To be used equally as a "adult bar" as well as a snack bar for teenagers.

Something tells me that there will be multiple sequels to this list…
